These photos are fantastic. I am a lawyer for the Métis Nation of Alberta and am often called on to give presentations on Métis rights and scrip. I use a lot of the black and white versions of these pictures in my slide decks. Could I get permission to use these versions when I speak for the MNA? People would love them. The photo identified as a group of Metis men who were prisoners in 1885...Do you know why they were prisoners, and where this was?

They were the councilor of Louis Riel. See http://maiacaron.org/my-metis/ and http://www.metismuseum.ca/resource.php/04825. One of your ancestors is listed there.

These men were arrested after the resistance at Batoche in 1885 and were tried for treason with most of them being given 7 yer sentences for their involvement.

Maxime Marion is one of my ancestors, some of my relatives are named after him, actually one of my nephews carries the name.
